Editorial policy

Products are bought at full retail price with our own money. When something arrives as a free sample, the post says so in the first two paragraphs, every time.

No brand reads a review before publication. No brand can request changes after it. We do not send drafts for approval, and we do not accept payment for a positive verdict at any price.

Every review states how much of the product we went through and over what period. A single bag on a single afternoon is a first impression and is labelled as one.

A full verdict means we bought it more than once. If we only tried it once, we say that instead of implying more.

Every recipe is made in a home kitchen, with equipment and ingredients an ordinary supermarket sells. Any special equipment is named at the top, not hidden in the method.

Times and yields are what we actually got, not what we hoped for. Where a step commonly goes wrong, we say what it looks like when it does.

Some links earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Commission has no bearing on rankings, scores, or whether a product is recommended.

We recommend products with no affiliate programme, and we tell you to skip products that do have one. If a recommendation ever tracks the commission rather than the snack, this policy has failed and we want to hear about it.

When we get something wrong we fix the post and add a dated note at the bottom saying what changed. We do not quietly edit and move on.
